In 19th-century Ukraine, a seminary student is forced to spend three nights presiding over the wake of the corpse of a beautiful young witch, with only his faith to protect him. Bursting with startling imagery and stunning practical effects. 

Based on the novella by Ukrainian writer Mykola Hohol (The Eve of Ivan Kupala, The Lost Letter) that served as inspiration for Mario Bava's gothic horror fantasy film, Black Sunday (1960).
