Keaton's first feature as star, writer and director is a spoof of D.W. Griffith's work (particularly Intolerance) told dynamically with amazing stunts and comedic imagination. In three different eras- the Stone Age, Ancient Rome and the present-Keaton attempts to woo a woman (Margaret Leahy) while defending himself from a bully (Wallace Beery).
