'Song of Granite' Director: Pat Collins (2017) Irish and English w/ English subtitles

A lyrical, chiaroscuro telling of the life story of the enigmatic sean nós singer Joe Éinniú -otherwise know as Joe Heaney - from his beginnings in the small Gaeltacht village of Carna in Connemara, to his later successes and struggles living abroad.
Joe's repertoire was estimated to have exceeded 500 songs and saw him receive invitations to both Newport Folk Festival and Sydney Opera House - piquing the curiosity of music collectors such as Alan Lomax, and collaborating with the likes of avant-garde composer John Cage.

Casla native and fellow sean nós singer Mícheál Ó Confhaola plays Heaney in an inspired and appropriately melismatic portrayal, with a host of other captivating musical performances from modern trad heavyweights Cormac Begley, Radie Peat, Lisa O'Neill and Damien Dempsey.
