Prescient attack on news television. A soon to retire newsman (due to bad ratings) breaks down on air attacking the news media and more 'I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!' striking a chord with many in the audience. The network cynically exploits the situation. The cast including Peter Finch, Faye Dunaway, William Holden and Robert Duvall are uniformly good but a speech delivered by Ned Beatty and a scene with Beatrice Straight live long in the memory.
