'Leaving Las Vegas' Director: Mike Figgis (1995) Starring Nicolas Cage, Elisabeth Shue
Humanist, tragic character study of two lost souls. A man, who formerly worked in the movie industry, arrives in Las Vegas with drinking to oblivion his goal. He is shown compassion and acceptance by a sex worker, he reciprocates in kind. They form a bond but it may not save him. Cage (before ironic fan service dominated his filmography) and Shue are unforgettable in their roles.
