In the 1980s rural Italy Josh O'Connor stars as Arthur, a crumpled English archaeologist just out of jail mourns the loss of his love and reconnects with his wayward crew of tombaroli accomplices – a happy-go-lucky collective of itinerant grave-robbers who survive by looting Etruscan tombs and fencing the ancient treasures they dig up. Arthur isn’t interested in the artefacts, though; he uses the digs to search for a door to the afterlife, of which myths speak, where he imagines reuniting with his dear Beniamina.
