A group of scientists are sent to a distant planet which is similar to Earth but stuck in its equivalent medieval times due to violent suppression of intellectualism. They must nudge the inhabitants towards a better civilisation but cannot directly interfere and must remain unrecognised as interlopers. A singular piece of filmmaking which pushes viewers into the squalor, mud and blood of its world.
Based on the Arkady and Boris Strugatsky book.
