Gaslight (1944) Blu-ray
'Gaslight' Director: George Cukor (1944) Warner Bros. Premium Collection Blu-ray | Cardboard slipcase
Lights flicker and dim. Footsteps sound from a sealed-off attic. Mysterious events only a vulnerable young woman sees and hears make her fear she's losing her mind - exactly what her treacherous spouse hopes.
A superb exercise in suspense, starring Ingrid Bergman, Charles Boyer, Joseph Cotten, May Whitty, and Angela Lansbury. Also an adaptation of Patrick Hamilton's 1938 play - Cukor's iteration lends a different ambiance to Thorold Dickinson's 1940 film of the same name, and features numerous deviations from the original stage play.
