In the Colombian Amazon a shaman accompanies two explorers (one German, the other American) forty years apart in their quest to find a life saving plant. Colonialism, religion, materialism and human consciousness are some of the linked themes. Though it brings to mind other great river journey films such as 'Aguirre: Wrath of God' and 'Apocalypse Now' this film has a sensibility of its own.
